Enjoy a day out to the beautiful North Wales coast as our train travels on a 200-mile steam hauled return journey from Crewe across the pretty Cheshire Plain, through Chester and along the delightful Welsh shoreline, known for its stunning beaches with sweeping views of the Dee Estuary, Irish Sea, historic castles, Snowdonia Mountains and finally crossing the Menai Strait with a fast run across Anglesey to the Port of Holyhead for an afternoon break.

The train is steam hauled from Crewe by one of our immaculately restored pool of engines including: the world famous LMS Royal Scot Class, No.46100 ‘Royal Scot’ – West Country Class, No. 34046 ‘Braunton’ – Britannia Pacific Class, No 70000 ‘Britannia’

The choice of destinations includes:
A small but lively city and university town, Bangor has a Cathedral with ancient roots this religious site can be traced back to the 6th century.  The former Bishop’s Palace has been refurbished as the new home for the museum and gallery. A good shopping centre too along what’s reputed to be Wales’s longest High Street. Visit Penrhyn Castle, the National Trust mansion set in beautiful grounds on the outskirts of town, and nearby Greenwood Forest Park, a popular family attraction.

The port of Holyhead is the busiest UK Irish ferry port and is home to the largest seagoing ferry in the world. The town centre offers several good places to eat and shop. The Maritime Museum is worth a visit where you can learn more about the 100 or so shipwrecks that have taken place in the vicinity and perhaps stroll down to South Stack Lighthouse and there are also excellent coastal walks at the Breakwater Country Park.
